I'm a big fan of this reality show of food network channel where in a competition for the search of new host for the channel. Bobby Flay is the host which is one of chef i like. So from start to almost finale i am constantly watching it. And next week will be the finale of the remaining contestant, should be 2 remains actually but they made a decision just to keep the 3 good chef still! because they have different personality and charisma to the judge and of course they are all good in their own ways. I have already a bet who i wanted to win though hehe! So if you are watching too guys, now I'm asking... who's your bet? can't wait to watch next week and knows who got the right to be called food network star!
~ brownies with strawberry creme~
I baked some brownies because i was craving it for awhile now but doesn't have a sneak time to make one lately but can't help it anymore lol so i made the other day and i some kinda style style on it hehe! i love playing on my food i mean decorate it in some way! I did a brownie mix, then just add eggs, H20 and OiL... then the interesting part i did was the toppings, i saw food network one day and Paula dean cooked several dessert you know finger food and i thought i will make my one also which really good you know but in moderation of course! I mix for the toppings are.. cold cold cream, confectioner sugar, unflavored gelatin and a drops of strawberry syrup since i don't have any strawberry fruit that day! it was good to me but it matter most because my husband likes it! lol.
Banana- "A remarkable fruit tree" Greeks and Arabs called it this tittle. And according to an old story, the sages of India rested in its shades and partook of the fruits. So then it has been called "the fruit of the wise men", but, why? the banana! anyway I don't know LOL. All i care is that bananas is one of my favorite fruit in the planet.
HOW BANANA GROW: The fact is banana is not a tree because it has no wood fibers. It grows best in hot, damp climate and thrive in rich sandy soil that good for drainage. Well what ever it is surely bananas is one of the yummiest fruit ever, and i know you would agree with me, though some are not really fond of this fruit however mostly does. There are so many useful and nutritional fact about this fruit! Actually their are hundred or more varieties of bananas. The dwarf one is common kind, there is also the thin skin kind these are known as the manzana (apple) and the red one obviously I've seen those in pinas.
Another fact that banana leaves contain useful fibers and are used for various purposes in tropical countries like Philippines. When you visiting an open local market, one often sees the leaves piled up in the street to be sold for wrapping like SUMAN in Philippines, tamales in Mexico and things like that, more than you could think banana leaves are very useful.
NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS: Bananas are rich in vitamins A and C, carbohydrates, phosphorus and potassium. There are so many uses for the banana!! it is right for our snacks, cereals, fruit cocktails which is my favorite! for pies, cakes, and not to mention our pinoy delicacies the famous BANANA CUE! and of course not to forget the renowned banana split! That's why next time you eat a ripe banana think about of its outstanding qualities. Its not just an ordinary fruit, because bananas has its own package, it is rich in vitamins and minerals that helps for good healthy body.
Lumpia Lumpia we all know this, its an Asian best ever food! I was craving of this for a while and i hate just to make one for me because the wrapper here is kinda weird. So 2weeks ago we went to Nashville, anyway whenever we go by Nashville i always take the advantage to pass by to the Philippine store to get some pinoy stuff. Yes indeed, i grabbed a full bag of pork/chicken lumpia a.k.a shanghai roll enough for me to last long. I still had until yesterday because hubby is not very fond of it hehe! he likes egg roll but not this kinda.
So anyways, I offered to my sissy.. why not fried it for baby shower you know a lil bit of Asian food. In my surprised they all loved my lumpia infairness... happy ang baye kunu, plus they asked what's with the sauce, is it with the lumpia?? uh uh, i made the sauce infairness... i mixed the 3kinds of dipping sauces to add extra sweet and sour spice. Lumpia is best known for finger food when you have gatherings.
We planning to go nashville next weekend maybe i will get some again.lol
~Before~Tomorrow is gonna be a busy day me, because we having a baby shower party for a friend... a close friend of my sister-in law. For her second baby and its gonna be held on my parents in law's house. So I wanted to help in anyway i can that's is why i baked some cake for contribution and i decorated it with help of sissy... did it ahead of time to be ready exactly by tomorrow afternoon. It was tiring but I'm sure the effort was worth it coz look at the cakes!! lol... turned it pretty don't you think so??
Another menu in the table..haha! hubby made this pizza from scratch Friday night and it was so delish, yummy than regular pizza i think for me though! Kinda mix of Mexican Italian dual because its called chicken fajitas pizza. May fajitas kana may pizza pa! what a combination. We found the recipe courtesy of food yahoo and we thought it sound good. It's true, I love the every bite of it, because each of the ingredient blended well and create great flavor plus hubby added some more ingredients too like mushrooms, more bell peppers and more onions then the crust just cooked right! and the mushroom really add flavor you know. We love mushrooms also present on most of our dish hehe.
Actually It is so easy to prepare... try it sure you will gonna like it! Just a pre-made pizza dough, vege oil, boneless chicken, garlic powder, chili powder, onion and bell peppers, salsa, mushrooms, salt to taste and Monterrey jack cheese. That's all!
I've finally made some fried banana Que for so long i been craving it for 2years you know! this were my breakfast yesterday morning. Thankful to hubby we passed by to Chinese store at Nashville. It was Saturday, so i waited several days to ripen a little for frying! I had some left overs and i finished them today! lol. I remember when i was in pinas ohhh saging prito usually our snacks with matching ice cold coke so good talaga!
I still have one pengka left, planning to save it another day or so... want some banana Q?? tag peso lng uy!!! lol
Banana Q is the typical Filipino dessert!
Good morning ya'll hope you have a nice day ahead! My day started so early and I already did almost of my chores for today! well, i guess...lol! Its been 3 consecutive days he is waking up soo early and i don't know why he's changing his routine . We're still asleep and snoring then suddenly you heard noise i guess he's letting us know that "hello I'm awake" even though my mind and body has no urge to get up, yet i need too! hayyy buhay mommy nga naman sweet and sour.
Champorado- is a chocolate rice, a sweet rice or (malagkit) mix with cocoa powder or those who really make from scratch they use cocoa bar or (tablea)we cooked it like that in pinas. It is delish really boiled to cooked and flavored it with sugar along with a glazed of milk, perfect in the morning or snacks! I remember in pinas we usually eat champo especially rainy day to warm up the cold temperature hehe.
Who can not resist these good stuff in the table?? lol while I'm posting right now I'm drooling as well! my goodness look all the stuff... it looks all good and yummy even just in the picture what more in the reality! I really really deeply missed Filipino food! this is torture when you are far away in your country, you hardly have the authentic pinoy delicacies. The letchon, all the seafood, crabs, shrimp, oh man! my weaknesses LOL! I have missed the handaan (family gathering) and have always the goody things in the table and just enjoy have fun and laugh. You know this is one of many things that us Filipino can proud of.. do you agree, right??? (okies walang kokontra).
Once in a while i found some food from Philippines but not that original though... that's the reason I'm lazy to make my own version because i only get frustrated when i don't meet the taste i wanted. I can't wait to go back in my hometown and take advantage all these yummy pinoy food again!
Have any one heard kimchi or even try it already? My mom says that kimchi is realy good, just like the taste of baguung or ginamus in visayan ( anchovies) in english. My mother's friend was the one introduced it to her. I heard that once in awhile here but I haven't try it yet and not even interested about it, until my mom mentioned it to me. since then I am curious what the taste of kimchi. If not all know what is Kimchi... it is zesty Korean staple because korean love zesty delicacies, and kimchi is perhaps thier favorite. And like what my mom said, a meal of her friend is incomplete without kimchi. But what really is kimchi? well, this is part of the internatinal family of picled vegetables. It is similar to sauerkraut of germany, ohh I love it with hotdogs, in other words kimchi is like atchara and pickled mostly we recognized.
I have to try this! I need to go to a asian market to get one. But it's kinda distance to us here so it needs to have an appointment to go there hehe!
I wanted to make my own since I found a recipe from an old magazined it's not that hard to gather but I think its' complicated to make.
Here are the basic Ingredient
1 pound chinese cobbage
2 tbsp salt
4cups of cold H2o
2cups very hot H2o
Seasonings
1tbsp finely chopped garlic
1tbsp finely chopped fresh ginger
1tbsp finely chopped scallions
2tsp finely chopped dried red pepper
2tsp sugar
1tbsp salt
Preparation: Separate the cabbage leaves, and sprinkle them with salt. Pour in cold water, and allow the mixture to stand in a cool place for 8hours or overnight. Rince cobbage well and squeeze the excess liquid. Pour very hot water over the seasonings mix well. Combine with cobbage leaves. Put the combination into large glass bowl. optional cutting the leaves to make them fit. Cover with plastic wrap, and leave in a cool place for about 2days. Drain the leaves, and cut them into bite size pieces. And the rest just pack into jar for ready to serve.
Sounds really yummy! I love this kinda food.
